Dear friends & family,
Let’s start with the good news! Blessed with a manpower boost, Trinity Soup Kitchen will increase its distribution from two Wednesdays per month to EVERY Wednesday, starting from 9 Sep 09. The plan is to do the weekly distribution, as a trial, for the months of Sep 09 & Oct 09 and if all goes well, we’ll make it regular. Approval has been obtained from the Church of St.Anthony for the use of the kitchen (THANK YOU, Father Terence
). Iris and Jay (our super gals!) are instrumental in putting together a volunteer list and yes, we’re all set to cook more & serve more!
Our recent distribution on 26 Aug 09 went very well. The donated MPV, with its expandable boot, is simply awesome. We loaded our “tools” – 10 food tubs/warmers, 500 serving bowls, cooking utensils etc. – everything at one go! We did our marketing & loaded the supplies – 100kgs of vegetables, 20kgs of rice, oil etc. – again, everything at one go (..& there’s still room for passengers)! C’est superb!
During the distribution, it was extra heartwarming when two of the residents at the dormitory joined our serving crew and helped with the distribution. In total, we served 372 hot meals, 100 packets of chicken rice, distributed the puffs/bread (Thanks to Mr Singh who has been donating the supplies on behalf of the Sikh community
), 80 packets of bread loaves from Fonyen, 120 packets of biscuits, 80kg of potatoes as well as tea and coffee sachets. Attached is an expenditure summary for your info. Trinity Soup Kitchen – Expenditure (26 Aug 09)
We’ll be back with more news on Wed, 9 Sep 09 (hmmm, 090909..what a nice date to kick off our once-per-week distribution
!!).
Keep well & God Bless.
Best,
Janice
