Trinity Soup Kitchen – 30 May 2012 Distribution

Dear friends and family:) happy,

The month of June is Trinity Soup Kitchen’s 4th Anniversary and we are very thankful for the many blessings and support from our families and like-minded friends >:D< big hug.

Given the "promptings" over the last two months and having witnessed an increase in the number of migrants in Little India who are in need of help, we have decided to re-organize this mission by channeling our resources towards the food programme in Little India.

Our food distribution at the Blue Stars Dormitory will terminate by end of June 2012 (..and yes, it’s kinda =(( broken heart). Any balance funds from this mission will be used to support the food programme in Little India. As part of our outreach programme to the migrants in Blue Stars Dormitory, we plan to distribute goody bags to them, twice a year during Christmas and CNY/Hari Raya. We look forward to having our dear volunteers together again to support this effort.

Here’s the update on our last food distribution:

Distribution at Blue Stars Dormitory on 30 May 2012

With just 6 volunteers to help with cutting of vegetables and 3 kitchen helpers, it was OT-day :-SS nailbitingfor all but thanks to our hardworking volunteers, we managed to complete our tasks by 6pm.

Distribution in the evening went well and was a breeeeze B-) cool as we had more helpers (great to meet Yvonne, Prema & her bunch of happy friends ;) wink). We served 348 bowls of Sambar with rice and distributed 420 bananas, 450 hard-boiled eggs, 500 coffee sachets and 100 packets of bread buns.

On May 30th, we received total $477 donations for this mission (thanks to Roi, Prema, Marilyn & friends, Lucia & Elvin:-* kiss).
Please refer to attached expenditure summary for details.

Our next soup kitchen will be held on Wednesday, 13 June 2012.

Our soup kitchen on 25 April 2012 had to be cancelled and was held on 16 May 2012. Here’s the update:

Distribution at Blue Stars Dormitory on 16 May 2012

After a one-month absence, our team returned to discover a new addition in the kitchen – a mini component set o|~ sing. So, we asked our 12-year old Gabriel which station we should tune in to and his answer was classic – "Gold 90.5 since most of our volunteers are "seniors"!!":D big grin. So, with Gold 90.5 music o|^_^|o musicplaying in the background, our dedicated volunteers "jived" to the rhythm and completed the tasks ahead of scheduled time:-)/:-) high five.

Thanks to all of our volunteers, the food distribution in the evening went well. We served a total 341 bowls of Sambar with rice and distributed 369 oranges, 500 coffee sachets and 100 packets of bread buns.

Dear friends and family,

Happy Easter>:D< big hug!

Am pleased to bring you an update on our last soup kitchen.

Distribution at Blue Stars Dormitory on 28 March 2012

Thanks to our chef Shanti, we had a "perfect score" for our sizzling Sambar on March 28th! We had tweaked the recipe a little – less carrot, more potatoes & brinjal for thicker & tastier gravy :P tongue – and, even with that variance in quantity, the proportion for each food warmer was perfect=D> applause.

The distribution in the evening went well. We were joined by 3 young & cheerful volunteers (El’s son, Brandon; Francesca & Genevieve) and together with our bunch of cheerful "old guards" :D big grin, we served 368 bowls of Sambar with rice, 450 hard-boiled eggs and distributed 420 bananas, 100 packet buns and 500 coffee sachets. Trinity Soup Kitchen – 14 March 2012 Distribution

Dear friends and family:) happy,

Distribution at Blue Stars Dormitory on 14 March 2012

To love and to serve…against all odds8-> day dreaming! Yup, that was what our youngest volunteer, Gabriel, taught us on March 14th.
Despite the absence of his aunt (who was away on holiday) and the drizzle that day, our 12-year old volunteer "scootered" to church in his mobile scooter. He told us he couldn’t stay for the entire session as he had to prepare for his tuition in the evening and yes, he could manage his time well and would use the 2 hours to help with the washing >:D< big hug…just 12 years old and already a regular "fixture" in our team. While in the kitchen, Gabriel asked what my favourite quote was and I found out his… "To Serve With Love, Unconditionally"O:-) angel. God Bless you, Gabriel:-* kiss!

A few students from RJC joined us that evening and together with our dedicated volunteers, we served 387 bowls of Sambar with rice, 450 hard-boiled eggs and distributed 410 bananas, 100 packet buns, 500 tea sachets =D> applause!

Attached is the expenditure summary. Including donations from Roi ;) wink, we have a balance budget of $1,826.76.

Our next Soup Kitchen will be held on Wednesday, 28 March 2012.

Trinity Soup Kitchen – 28 Dec 2011 Christmas Distribution

Dear friends and family,

Christmas Celebration at Blue Stars on Wed, 28 Dec 2011

Dec 28th was an eventful day:D big grin! In addition to our dedicated regular volunteers, we had new volunteers (Terry, Sharon with her gals:-* kiss, Teresa’s family and 15 Ephesians from the Church of St.Anthony>:D< big hug) who joined us as packers for the day. From sorting of t-shirts (thanks to Michael who donated more than 1,000 t-shirts to this Christmas celebration :) happy), slippers, biscuits, toothpaste & drink sachets to fastening the goody bags, everyone was fully engaged.

Our day was made exceptionally sweet with the arrival of the FoodEdge Gourmet truck which delivered bags and trays of delicious cakes and pastries for the migrants (thank you, Mr Singh for your donations). By 5pm, we had all the 6 cars loaded with about 1,080 goody bags and sweets (..thanks Ellery, for responding to our SOS call) and together with Father’s vanO:-) angel , we set off for the dormitory.

The distribution was made extra special when the Ephesians "doubled" as carolers for the evening. Henry, the guitarist, led the carolers (aka the tamarind sister;) winks) and belted out a medley of Christmas carols =D> applauseamidst the hustle and bustle of food & goody bags distribution. All went well until the rain came and we had to re-organize the queue. Minutes later however, the team decided to suspend the distribution due to overcrowding. During the interval, the carolers, who had been singing non-stop, entertained the migrants with another medley of soothing carols;) wink! Distribution resumed after order was restored and by 8.15pm, all 1,080 goody bags, over 800 portions of pastries/cakes, 150 packets of chicken rice & 150 packets of egg pratas (donations from Shawyn, our chicken rice sponsor) were distributed. Cheers to all&lt:-P party!

A series of photos will be sent to you for your viewing pleasure:D big grin. Heartfelt thanks to all for your loving contribution and participation:-* kiss.

Our next soup kitchen is on this Wed, 4 Jan 2012…and sizzling Sambar is back on the menu;) wink!

"How much water to put into the rice cooker?"
